Not Any Old Iron in Year 3

Year 3 have been working extremely hard this term. We have all enjoyed studying The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Through this unit, the children have written diaries, letters and news reports based on the different events in the story. They have really engaged with the text, and this week have reviewed the book, as well as drawing comparisons with the film.

During our Science lessons we have been exploring forces and how objects move across a surface. We have also enjoyed investigating the effect that magnets have upon each other, and on magnetic objects.

in History we are beginning to learn how Stone Age life changed into the Bronze Age and subsequently the Iron Age. We are looking forward to making Celtic money pouches in DT, investigating the best natural juices to dye our fabric and developing our sewing technique.

This week we have begun practising the carols for our Carol Concert, and will be bringing words home to practise next week.

Finally, a practical reminder, we are still having Games lessons outdoors, please could you ensure that your child has tracksuit trousers to wear outdoors, and a spare pair of socks for girls who may be coming to school wearing tights.

Many thanks

Year 3 Team
