Learning and discovering in Year 1

The children have been busy over the last couple of weeks in Year 1. They have been learning about rules as part of our RE learning and thinking about how rules relate to our everyday lives. In maths, they have been practicing their counting forwards and backwards and using different maths equipment to represent the numbers in different ways. The children wrote some amazing poems last week as part of their English, using their senses to help them describe all the things they like.

They are really enjoying their writing in Year 1 and we look forward to writing a story with them over the coming weeks about a very hungry caterpillar! The children have loved watching our class caterpillars grow and a few of them became butterflies on Friday, which was really exciting! In our artwork, they have been exploring colour and paint. The children have created some lovely pieces of artwork inspired by their knowledge of primary colours.

Google Classrooms: For children who are isolating and well enough to work, there is learning everyday in the Year1-2021 classwork folder. If your child tests positive following a PCR test and needs to isolate, then live lessons can be accessed on Google classrooms. Please check the Year 1-2021 stream for updates about timings for the live lessons. Links will appear just before the start of the lesson on the year1 stream.
