On each day of the tests, you can choose to come to school between 8am – 8:10am and join your friends for some fruit and a breakfast bar. Please bring £3 if you have breakfast each day at school (Monday to Thursday) . If you prefer to come only once or twice, you can pay £1 a day. If you would rather have breakfast at home, please come to school at 8:30am so we can complete our registers and get ourselves organised in plenty of time for each test.

If you have any questions at all, please let your teachers know and we can answer them quickly and put your minds at rest. You have done lots of practice work to get ready for this week so just do your best and enjoy it! You are all superstars 😎

We are so looking forward to celebrating Christmas with you this year. Our first service will be in the main hall at 6:30pm on Monday evening. Children need to arrive and make their way to class at 6:10pm to register and assemble. Choir members will assemble in class 3P. If you are not attending the carol service, please collect children at 7:30pm.

Carol services will also take place for Year 6 on the afternoons of Tuesday and Wednesday at 2:00pm during the school day. Please make sure that children are in full school uniform as no PE will take place on these days.

Thank you so very much for joining us and arranging to get your children to school in the evening – we really do appreciate it. The children of Year 6 have been incredible this year and we are so looking forward to them perform at our carol services. It is such a special way for them to end the calendar year.

After a superb week at Osmington Bay where the children were just fantastic in all respects, we have come back to the classroom with great curiosity to learn more about our topic of ‘Keep Calm and Carry On.’

We had a lovely visit from Mr Stiles this morning where the children listened intently to his talks about living through the Second World War as a young boy. They were shown so many artefacts from the war as well as rationed food items for the children to discover just how little adults and children got to eat for a week in the wartime. They were also allowed to pick up and ask questions about about gas masks, including special ones for babies, and shrapnel and German bullets collected by Mr Stiles.

Our learning about WW2 will be deepened with two further events for your children to experience: the baking of a Woolton pie and Evacuation Day. Children will bake a Woolton pie in groups from November 25th to December 2nd. They will bring a letter home this week which will let you know what day they are cooking and the ingredients they need to bring in for their group. Evacuation Day will be held on Friday 6th December and a letter to explain this day is attached. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Our PE days for this half term are Mondays and Wednesdays.

We are looking forward to a great half term of learning and the excitement that Christmas brings. Thank you for having such wonderful children who were such lovely company on our residential trip.

The Year 6 Term

Evacuation Day email 2024

Our new Year 6 children have astounded us with their incredible attitude to learning and the kindness they show each other. They really have made a most wonderful start and we are so excited as their teachers to see what the rest of the year will bring.

As well as daily reading and times table revision, written homework will start this week (Wednesday for English and Friday for Maths) Children will need to purchase their homework books from school and you will find further information in the letter attached.

Our curriculum and residential trip information will take place on Thursday, 19th September in the school main hall from 5:45pm – 6:45pm.

For the week beginning 16th September, PE for all of Year 6 will be on Monday and Thursday.

The week beginning 23rd September, PE will continue for all of Y6 on Mondays. Forest School will also then take place and replace the second PE session from 25th September up until half term. Due to clashes with the peri music lessons, we have had to make some changes to the originally planned dates. We apologise for any confusion and thank you for your patience and understanding. All children will need to come to school in their forest school clothes (long sleeved tops and trousers, a coat and suitable footwear such as old trainers or wellies. Spare clothing should be brought in their school bag with a small towel). The new days for forest school will now be on:

THURSDAYS – 6B

FRIDAYS – 6C
