Can you help?

The Year 1 Team are developing their outdoor provision including continuous provision for both their indoor classroom and outdoor classrooms.  We are looking for some items that you may have at home that you could donate to us. The following is what we really need. We’ll update this list as items come in.

We are looking to create zones – much like Year R, so if you’re thinking of disposing of any IKEA Kallax units or Trofast units – we’d love to hear from you! 
 
Pallets:
If anyone has any pallets at home too we are going to try and use these creatively in our outdoor classrooms! 

Forest School

In Yblankear 1, we are loving every moment of Forest School.  We are enjoying the swing and hammock particularly, as well as the mud kitchen and art and craft activities that Mr Calver has set up for us.  We are remembering the Forest School rules and our learning behaviours brilliantly- walking safely, sharing responsibly and being creative in the most fun way!blank blank blank blank blank blank blank blank blank blank

Year 1 Autumn Update

It’s been a busy start to Year 1 and the children have settled in beautifully.  We have enjoyed learning all about our sensational senses and explored sight, sound, touch, smell and taste in our science learning time.  As part of our English work, we explored a whole range of exciting words to describe the tasty treats that ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ ate and watched patiently as our class caterpillars grew into beautiful butterflies.  It was a very special moment when we released them outside on the school field!

We really enjoyed Tanzania Day.  We designed our own mud houses and also necklaces inspired by African jewellery.  We had fun sharing traditional African folk stories by watching some animated Tinga Tinga Tales too.  We were proud of all the Tanzania facts we had learned throughout the day when we answered lots of the questions in Mrs Rosso’s whole school Kahoot quiz in the afternoon.

The half- term has whizzed by, filled with lots of super learning.  We can’t wait for what comes next!
