- It’s Mrs Smith’s last day today :( She didn’t want a fuss made of her in worship, but we want her to know that she will be very much missed from our team. Mrs Smith has been a key part of our school team and office for many years, and has done an excellent job. She always wants to help, and works very hard, always with a smile and a laugh; nothing is too much trouble. As Headteacher, I have appreciated her advice and pragmatic approach, and I am in no doubt that we are in a better place as a school because of her. Vicky, we will miss you so much! Thank you for all that you’ve given at St Mark’s over the years. Parents and carers, why not email the office to send her best wishes?
- COVID – we are seeing more positive cases from children who show symptoms like headaches, tummy aches, sore throats, Diarrhoeaa and vomiting, compared to the three main symptoms. Please can you err on the side of caution if your child is feeling unwell. Thank you.
- Autumn term reports were emailed out this week for Years 1-5. Year 6 coming soon. Email the office if you haven’t received it.

Census Day for KS1 School Dinners
On Thursday 20th January, it’s Census Day for all KS1 children who are entitled to Universal Free School Meals (all children in Years R, 1 and 2).
The amount of funding we receive as a school, depends on how many dinners are ordered on that day.
Could you please encourage your child in Year R-Year 2 to order a school dinner on this day. The menu options have been changed to:
Red: Fish & Chips
Green: Pizza
Change in COVID Guidance
From Monday 17 January, people who are self-isolating with COVID-19 will have the option to reduce their isolation period after 5 full days if they test negative with a lateral flow device (LFD) test on both day 5 and day 6 and they do not have a temperature. For example, if they test negative on the morning of day 5 and the morning of day 6, they can return to their education or childcare setting immediately on day 6.
The first test must be taken no earlier than day 5 of the self-isolation period, and the second must be taken the following day. All test results should be reported to NHS Test and Trace.
If the result of either of their tests is positive, they should continue to self-isolate until they get negative results from two LFD tests on consecutive days or until they have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest.
Anyone who is unable to take LFD tests or anyone who continues to have a temperature will need to complete the full 10 day period of self-isolation.

Hours of work are 3.30pm to 6.30pm Monday to Friday with an hourly rate of £9.25 per hour.

Can you help Foodbank?
We are very low on certain products in our food bank after the Christmas hampers etc and we are currently still supporting over 400 people a week.
Help us by supplying one tin of any of the following please:
- Tinned veg
- Tinned Soup
- Tinned meat – hotdogs/meat meals like chilli con carne/curry/chicken casserole
Simply bring them into the foyer by Immanuel church. We’ll have a box available.

In worship this week…
FOSM – Support Our School!
The ‘Friends of St Mark’s’ (FOSM) was formed early in the life of the school. All parents are automatically members and our committee organises social events for children and adults and fund-raising events such as Key Stage discos, Easter Egg Hunts and Summer Fun days.
Over the last few years the ‘Friends’ have donated money that has contributed towards extra resources to benefit the children at St. Mark’s which has included playground equipment, books for the school library, and general school funds. We are now a registered charity, too. Charity number: 1188879
