Year 1 – Autumn

Carnivores, Herbivores and Omnivores

As a final learning activity in science this half term, we visited the farm to classify the animals by the food they eat.  We had already learnt the terms carnivore, herbivore and omnivore.

It was exciting to see the animals eating, particularly the hens, who were searching for worms in the farmyard.  On our way out we noticed a pair of red kites circling in the sky, so we were able to finish our learning task having seen one animal from each group.

Autumn Leaves

We had seen the Autumn leaves falling around us and thought about the colours.  To apply all the skills we had been using in “Creative Lab” in our computing lessons, we designed some Autumn leaves and decorated them with running stitch.

Fabulous Foxes

Our final art activity allowed us to explore secondary colours by mixing varying amounts of yellow and red to make a range of oranges.  Here are our fabulous foxes.
