A few notes from Mr Applegate

Thank you for your capital donations so far. They are trickling in, and will help to make a difference to our school. Please keep them coming if you haven’t had a chance to do so yet. Details below.
We’re a bit short on farm bookings – for the weekend and also over Easter. Could you help? Click here.
Please remember to book your Parents evening appointment if you have a child in Years 1 to 5. Click here to book.
Next Friday we will be celebrating both Down Syndrome Day and Red Nose Day. Wear something red with odd socks and non uniform. Any money donated goes to Red Nose Day appeal.
Finally, Year 4 go on their 3 day residential next week. Have a brilliant time!

Well done to Danny who took his Taekwondo grading for his 7th Kup last Sunday, and achieved an impressive A Pass! Congratulations Danny!

Well done to Liam who took his Taekwondo grading and was awarded his green belt!

Well done to Edward who finished in 1st place for the second week in a row at Parkrun! He has now picked up his Ultra Marathon Band for completing 50 Parkruns. What a fantastic achievement Edward!

Well done to Emily who competed at the British Qualifiers competition and came 4th. This means that her team have qualified for the TeamGym British Championships in Newcastle.

🚗🚗🚗 Car Parking in Hatch Warren 🚗🚗🚗

Maplehurst Chase: we have had an email from a resident of Maplehurst Chase. “We regularly have two cars parked opposite our driveway whilst parents take their child to school, and it is making access to our driveway very difficult. Please can you remind parents that they have access to parking at Hatch Warren Community Centre.”

Highwood Ridge: Unfortunately, this car blocked the crossing point on Highwood Ridge today at home time. Please remember to park considerately so that our parents and children can walk safely to and from school.

Foodbank Support

Foodbank Friday

Many local supermarkets host a permanent donation point where people can leave the donations they purchase during their visit but we would also like to set up a station in school where children can feel that they are making a difference to help others.

We are encouraging children to occasionally bring in an item of food, which they can put in a box in our School Office.

We will update the list each week or you may prefer to download the Bank the Food App. This will update it weekly on the items we’re running low on. It’s a great app and you only need to download it and select Basingstoke Foodbank as preferred. You can also activate notifications which means you’ll get a reminder when you visit the supermarket, so you never forget to donate. It lets you know the items they most need.

Child Care Vouchers

For those of you who have access to childcare vouchers/tax free accounts, please note that these funds can only be used for childcare before or after normal school hours, e.g breakfast club and after school clubs, but not for day trips/residential trips. This is the government directive. Both SCL and HWASC accept the vouchers.
September price increases

Breakfast Club:

Early session (7.30am): £5.50
Middle session (8.00am) : £3.00
Late Session (8.20am) £1.50

St Mark’s After School Clubs: Prices of clubs can vary due to the number of resources used. Most are £2.50pw but please check individual clubs when applying.

We’ve moved our absence request form online. This is for absence requests such as holidays, weddings, funeral, special events, and more. You don’t need to use this form for sickness or self-isolation (but please email/phone the office if they are unwell).
