Learning update for Year R

We’ve had a busy 2 weeks in Year R since returning after Half Term. The children really enjoyed sharing the Autumnal objects they collected with you during the Half Term holiday, so thank you for helping them scavenge!

This week we started off our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic by thinking about everything medical, and have talked about doctors, nurses, dentists and paramedics as well as learned how we can keep our bodies healthy through healthy eating, good hygiene habits, and exercise.

Next week we are learning about the Fire Service and we are excited to (hopefully!) have some fire fighters and a fire engine visit us!

We hope you’ve found the Walk and Talk board useful and you’ve enjoyed being able to have discussions with your child about their day to day learning. As you will have noticed,we are also sharing this on Tapestry for those of you who are unable to pick up each day.

We’d love to see Tapestry observations of any home learning, and if your child completes any work at home do bring it in and we can share it in class and take copies for our records.

Don’t forget to add those WOW moments to your child’s Tapestry journal, and also any fun experiences and activities they have been enjoying at home. We have about 5 parents in each class who are regularly posting observations but other than that, it is being unused. We’d love to see more of you contributing. If in any doubt about what or how to post, please come and ask!

Christmas Play

Today some children will come home with lines for the play (on pink card). Please could you practise these over the weekend as our first rehearsal is on Tuesday. Ideally we ask that these lines are memorised. The children do not need to be able to read them as there will be an adult to prompt during the performance. They will be speaking into a microphone too.

You do not need to send these lines back into school as we have a set at school to use for our rehearsals.

Please ensure all costumes are in school next Friday 25th November in a named carrier bag. Remember, if your child is an Angel and you already have a costume at home, please come and let us know ASAP so we can allocate the small number of costumes we have in school to those who need them.

You have all been allocated four tickets to attend our Christmas performances. If you don’t need all four then please return them to us.
