Helpful Reminders

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do them independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all of these tasks due to other family commitments, or if you are working from home, so please don’t worry. Complete what you can with your child. These activities are enough for about an hours work throughout the day. Just a reminder that we will not be providing work over the weekends to ensure you all have a well earned rest.

Don’t forget you can email us on year2@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Ongoing Daily Activities

Here are the daily activities for you to complete each day. We have added a handwriting booklet that you could work through very gradually, not in one go. You can either print the booklet, or do this onto paper of your own at home. We look forward to seeing how amazing your handwriting will be when we see your work.

  • 20 minutes of reading either a school book or a home book.
  • Practice your 2,5 and 1o times tables using TTRockstars, or a different method.
  • Practice your weekly spellings which will be provided below, and the Year 2 common exception words.

English

This week we are looking at The Enormous Crocodile. Please use the PowerPoint to support your learning. Look at the first slide and see if you can predict what the story is about, who the characters are and what type of book this is. Read the story or get a grown up to help you and try to respond to the questions as you go. Today we are writing of a character description and there are sentence starters on the last slide to help you. You can write this onto paper using any resources you have at home.

Maths

I’m sure you are going to get really good at telling the time. If you have a watch, remember to practice telling the time during your day. Work through the PowerPoint with an adult first to practice telling the time within 5-minute intervals, building on yesterdays learning. Then, have a go at completing the challenge provided.

Science

Today we are thinking about “What happens to your heart rate after exercise?” See if you can follow the steps one by one and choose some of the activities to complete at home. Have a think about how you could present your findings. Perhaps you could make a table, a bar graph, or draw a picture of you doing each activity and write your heart rate next to each. Have fun!
