End of Year Newsletter July 2025

A note from Mr Applegate

Another year has gone by – seemingly very quickly! But as I reflect on it, I have so much to be thankful for.

  • Our volunteers who help is so many ways – forest school, reading, pastoral work, general class support and more.
  • Our staff team who pour so much of themselves into making the children’s time at school the best they can.
  • Our governors who give up so many hours to ensure we keep on track – and with such passion for the school.
  • Our FOSM team who put on brilliant events to bring fun to our school community, and money to buy much needed resources.
  • Our parents who work in partnership with us for the sake of the children.
  • Our Year 6 pupils, who have been a real example to our school of what it means to role models and demonstrate our school spirit.
  • … and of course all of our pupils who are just brilliant and make every day so much fun!
  • On behalf of all the staff at St Mark’s, we wish you a fantastic summer break.

A final plea! Our summer farm bookings still have some gaps. We need at least 1 family per day. It’s free, easy, and LOADS of fun. Book here!

See you in September  – Thursday 4th Sept as Weds 3rd is an INSET!

Mr Applegate :)

Thank you FOSM!

Correction!

We shared in a previous newlsetter that Denise Lloyd, one of our local childminders, was retiring. We’re pleased to say that this is not actually the case, and that Denise is still supporting families with childcare!

OPAL Resources – Can you help?

Thank you for all of your donations so far. We are continuing to develop our OPAL playtimes and we are looking for some urgent donations to top up some of our playtime supplies.
We would like:
  • scooters and safety helmets
  • Barbies/dolls
  • old saucepans/frying pans/ spoons
  • small soft balls
  • buckets, spades & trowels.
If you have anything that you are able to donate, please drop it in one of the buckets on the playground side of the office or hand them to a member of staff at drop off or pick up. Thank you. 🙂

  • We are developing a conservation woodland area at Forest School to help encourage wildlife onto the site.  Before we can make it available for children to use, it needs some work to clear the dead wood to encourage fresh growth.

The work will take place on Saturday 6th September 10am-12pm. This will be for adults only, no children please.  If you would like to volunteer, please complete the Google Form here.

    Thank you so much.
