Year 4 – Monday 23rd March

Good Morning Year 4!

We hope that you have had a lovely weekend.  Well done for gaining so many correct answers on TTRockstars on Friday.  We beat Year 3 with an amazing score of 28,164.  Welcome to those of you who have been in school last week.  We hope that you enjoy completing some or all of these learning activities.

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on year4@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Ongoing Daily Activities

At some point today, make sure you use your digital logins to play the following:-

  • TTRockstars – Play 3 garage games
  • Numbots – Play  for 15 mins
  • Spelling Shed – Play 3 rounds
  • Reading –  Read for at least 20 mins

Maths – adding fractions with the same denominator

The children have worked hard this term to deepen their fractions knowledge.  We have added and subtracted fractions using diagrams as well as in our heads.  Children, use whichever method you feel most comfortable with.  Here is a short BBC Bitesize clip to help but please don’t worry about the bit where there are different denominators!  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zhdwxnb/articles/z9n4k7h

Here are the questions: https://oioexae.exampro.net/  Alternatively download a pdf below.  If you don’t have a printer, please do your best to read from the screen and use a notebook or some paper.

ENGLISH

We have really enjoyed reading the adventures of Stanley you have been sending in.  This week we will have a focus on ‘The Fairground’ partly because of Stan but also it is tricky to carry on with the book without the book!  We hope that you enjoy exploring the fairground this week and do share with us any writing you have done.  Today it is all about using conjunctions!  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zwwp8mn/articles/zqk37p3

TOPIC

As I was out taking a walk to get some fresh air, I noticed in a window someone had stuck a picture of a rainbow.  Later on, I discovered that on social media people have been encouraging children to make a picture of a rainbow and stick it in their window.  When others are out taking a walk, they can count how many rainbows there are in the local area.  If you haven’t taken part in this yet, take some time today to make a rainbow and stick it in your window.  If you have brothers and sisters, you could each make one to increase the number!
