We hope you enjoyed the Easter weekend and are safe and well. It is so lovely seeing everything you are doing on Tapestry. We have really enjoyed seeing all of your fantastic Easter activities so far.

As this is the second week of the Easter holidays, we will not be sending out school work to do this week, however we have a new updated list of ideas in the Holiday Activities section below.  Remember, you do not have to complete any of these activities – they are just ideas to help to keep you busy should you wish to use them.  

This week, we have collated all the story videos that we’ve made so far in case you wanted to watch some of them again.

Share your work!

blankWe’d love to share a piece of artwork your child has done. It can be of anything – a rainbow for the NHS, a piece of home learning, a poster, a drawing, a painting, a design, anything! Just make sure you only send in a photo of the work, not the child or anything on the photo that may identify them (e.g. full name). Simply email it to posters@stmarksce.org.uk and we’ll do the rest! We’ll make a video montage of it, and share it on our website. We would love to have as many entries as possible. Closing date is Sunday 19th April!

Holiday Activities – 

  • Sketch pad activity– look closely and draw garden flowers or signs of spring. What colours can you see?  What shapes are they made from?
  • Write someone a letter and send it.
  • Play “Name that Song” – hum a little bit of a song – can your grown up name it?
  • Build a den.
  • Play a game – “Hide and Seek in the dark with torches” – if you’re feeling brave!
  • Play “Hide the Teddy” – say Hotter or Colder when someone is getting nearer or further away from your teddy’s hiding place!
  • Video call a friend for a play-date (you could have a Dough Disco together!)
  • Set up a treasure hunt inside or out. Grown ups- give the children clues using language such as in front, behind, next to, between, under, on top. If you can hide things of different sizes you can ask them to describe the size of what they have found. Can they describe where they found them using the positional language that you modelled?

Easter Themed Activities –

  • An Easter egg hunt.
  • A “Busy Bodies” Easter hunt in the garden. Click to download ideas and resources.
  • A “Keyword” Easter hunt in the garden.  Click on the sheet below to download and print (alternatively make your own or make your own keyword hunt: write out pairs of keywords – keep one set, hide one set and when you find a word match it to the word in your set.)    blank

 

  • A “Number” Easter hunt in the garden – Download and print the sheet below, cut each egg in half and hide all the parts. Once the children have found the egg parts they have to combine the correct ones to make a total of 10 e.g. 8 and 2, 7 and 3 etc

  • Make an Easter cross from sticks.

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on yearr@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password or need some help.

You can continue to use Tapestry to share your child’s work. Please only upload one post a day. You can either choose one activity or put all the activities you complete on one post.

We look forward to hearing from you. We may not reply the same day!

Independence

The children in Year R are very rarely asked to work independently, particularly when writing. It is expected that they will need adult support to get started on all of the tasks we set for them here, and continue to need it throughout their activity. 

However, we want to continue to build their independence, so encourage them to use resources which can help them be independent like sound cards, letter formation cards for handwriting etc. 

 

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities with you. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

There is absolutely no expectation that you get all, if any of these activities completed each day.
