Year 2 Update
Year 2 have had lots of fun across this half term and have produced some amazing art work linked with our Great Fire of London History topic. Recently, they enjoyed looking at how St. Paul’s Cathedral changed after being rebuilt following the fire. They really looked closely at the fine detail to create their pen sketches.
In the last week of term, we worked on developing our skills of persuasion and concluded our work by writing a persuasive letter to Mr Applegate to ask to have a space day linked with our learning about Neil Armstrong in Autumn 2. We’re delighted to say that they succeeded and we will have our Space Day on Wednesday 20th November. Whilst the children are welcome to come in space outfits on this day, they have written in their letters to Mr Applegate that they will make their own costumes as part of our space themed activities, so please remind them to this. We would like them to come in wearing a coloured t-shirt but we will make head-dresses and accessories during the day, so there should be no extra expense to you.
We also ask that each child brings in a used and washed 2L drinks bottle (with a lid) into school during the first week as we will be using these to create a fantastic space rocket. If you have any newspapers that you no longer need then we would be grateful for those too as we will be using them for paper and paste.
We enjoyed seeing you all at our recent parents’ evenings and look forward to another exciting half term.

Half term update & important Windmill Hill info!
Project Outcome
Thank you so much to everyone who attended our Project Outcome last week. We apologise that it couldn’t take place in the main hall as advertised – a slight flooring issue in there meant it was out of action! Nevertheless, it was a great success and we hope you enjoyed seeing the range of amazing work that the children have produced for this topic. We are so proud of how hard they have worked in their first half term of Year 6, especially with their passion towards reducing deforestation.
Parents’ Evening
Thank you also to all the parents who attended our parents’ evenings. It was great to properly meet you all! If you missed it, we are more than happy to arrange a meeting after school one day. Please don’t wait until the next lot to ask us any questions…our doors are always open!

Throughout the week, we will be posting daily updates on the website so you can see the amazing things your children are getting up to! The password to access these will be emailed out to you before Monday.
Enjoy the rest of your half term holiday!
Sensational Senses Exhibition
What an amazing end to our Sensational Senses project! It was great to see so many of you during our art exhibition and for the children to share their learning with you. The children had great fun using their senses to create the artwork and hoped you enjoyed looking at it.
We hope you all have a lovely half term and look forward to seeing you next week for the start of our next project, Polar Explorers.
Year 1 Team
Reminder: please remember we are having a Polar Explorer dress up day on Tuesday 5th November, if your child wishes to dress up in clothing fit for the poles!
