Half term update & important Windmill Hill info!
Project Outcome
Thank you so much to everyone who attended our Project Outcome last week. We apologise that it couldn’t take place in the main hall as advertised – a slight flooring issue in there meant it was out of action! Nevertheless, it was a great success and we hope you enjoyed seeing the range of amazing work that the children have produced for this topic. We are so proud of how hard they have worked in their first half term of Year 6, especially with their passion towards reducing deforestation.
Parents’ Evening
Thank you also to all the parents who attended our parents’ evenings. It was great to properly meet you all! If you missed it, we are more than happy to arrange a meeting after school one day. Please don’t wait until the next lot to ask us any questions…our doors are always open!
Windmill Hill
Eeeeek! Only 4 sleeps children!
Arrangements for Monday morning:
- Enter through 6P’s classroom door if your child has no medication for you to hand in.
- Enter through the main Year 6 door if you have medication to hand in. Be prepared to wait in a small queue for this while Mrs Silvester and Mrs Boyle check medication against medical forms and confirm frequency/dosage etc.
- Hand in £5 pocket money to Mrs Bayat and Mrs Lethaby in a small purse/wallet
- Leave suitcases/bedding/coat/packed lunch in 6C on the correct side of the classroom – Activity Groups 1-4 are on Coach A and need to use the left side; Activity Groups 5-8 are on Coach B and need to use the right side.
- Say goodbye to your children!
- Children to sit in 6S
Throughout the week, we will be posting daily updates on the website so you can see the amazing things your children are getting up to! The password to access these will be emailed out to you before Monday.
Enjoy the rest of your half term holiday!
Sensational Senses Exhibition
What an amazing end to our Sensational Senses project! It was great to see so many of you during our art exhibition and for the children to share their learning with you. The children had great fun using their senses to create the artwork and hoped you enjoyed looking at it.
We hope you all have a lovely half term and look forward to seeing you next week for the start of our next project, Polar Explorers.
Year 1 Team
Reminder: please remember we are having a Polar Explorer dress up day on Tuesday 5th November, if your child wishes to dress up in clothing fit for the poles!
Our Amazing Museum
What a fantastic end to our project ‘Dig and Discover’ as so many of you supported our Museum last Thursday. The children enjoyed setting up and sharing all their learning with you. It was so lovely to have such positive feedback from parents/ carers and also to hear what the children enjoyed most about this project.

A few other notes:
- After half term we begin our book study of Ted Hughes book ‘The Iron Man’. There is still a chance for the children to purchase their own copy of the book for just £3.30.
- As you know the children have been having Brass lessons in Music this term – We would like you to come to a short concert to hear how much they have learnt on Tuesday 17th December at the times below:
– 3BE – 9.30 – 9.50
– 3B – 10.30 – 10.50
– 3SB – 11.30 – 11.50 - A request for 3BE – Have you got any old ‘adult’ sized shirts to donate to class for painting lessons this year? Thank you in advance.
- Don’t forget to book your tickets for our Year 3&4 Carol Service – Thursday 12th December at 2pm/ Monday 16th December at 6.30pm/ Tuesday 17th December at 2pm.
- Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar books – these will be used in school and for homework every other week. Please only do the pages that the children have written in the front of this book as this links to the learning the children are completing in class.
Example
Thank you again for your on-going support. Have a lovely half term.
Year 3 Team
Happy Half Term!
We have had such a busy half term and the children have loved learning about Ancient Egypt! Our topic after half term is a geography based unit focusing on the United Kingdom.
Here is a reminder of the half term homework set last week and due on 4.11.19.
We would like you to collect some information about a place in the UK which is special to you and your family. It could be another town or city which you have lived in or visited on holiday or for the day. Perhaps where your Grandparents or another family member lives.
You can share your ideas in any form (poster, postcard, factfile) you like but please include:
- A map showing where the place is, so we can locate it on a large map at school.
- Name the county the place is in.
- Find out a city which is near by.
Please bring your homework to school on 4.11.19
We hope you have a restful half term break and look forward to seeing you on Monday 4th November.
