Year 5 – Tuesday 23rd March

Good Morning Year 5!

We hope you are well and that you are enjoying the sunshine as much as you can.

It’s already been a whole week since starting home learning, and we just wanted to say a massive well done for all you have done so far. We know this is new and different, but all of us teachers as well as Mr Applegate are amazed at your resilience and hard work. You are all doing an excellent job.

We have really enjoyed seeing all your hard work, hearing about your schedules and generally saying hello to those of you who have emailed in. Please do keep them coming in, it helps us from getting lonely and missing you all.

We are also glad to hear that some of you have used the Joe Wicks workout that we mentioned in yesterday’s post, We hear it was quite energetic and many of you were pretty drained afterwards. Do keep using it, it’s a great source of exercise as we can’t do the things we usually do.

Keep up the hard work!

Year 5 Team.

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on year5@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Daily Activities

Today you have been set a Maths, English and Science job. Just don’t forget about:

  • TTRockstars – Miss T (Missy Flowers) to be on there at 3pm to challenge or be defeated (although she has been practising so watch out)
  • Spelling Shed – You have been set the spellings we are learning this week on Spelling Shed where you can play games to help you learn them. We have your login details and passwords, so please email us and we will send them over to you.
  • Spellings – Learn these everyday – remember to Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check.
  • Reading –  Read for at least 20 mins

Maths

Today we are going to continue to look at multiplying fractions, but this time with non-unit fractions (fractions without a 1 on the top). Miss T has made another video to help you out.  There are some challenges for you to complete at the end as well. Email year5@stmarksce,org.uk if you would like answers to today or yesterday’s Maths.
