Year 6 – Thursday 25th March

Good Morning Year 6!

We hope you slept well and have had breakfast ready for another day of learning. Just a quick reminder that your learning shouldn’t take you much longer than 2-2.5 hours.

Don’t forget – start your day with ‘P.E WITH JOE’ (Joe Wicks, The Body Coach). Live at 9am every day this week on his youtube channel -https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1/featured

Have a wonderful day!

Mrs Silvester, Miss Pettitt and Mrs Chapman

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on year6@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you. We may not reply the same day!

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Ongoing Daily Activities

As well as the learning tasks we upload each day, there are a few ‘extras’ that you could have a go at, if you get time.

TTRockstars – Play 5 garage games + 5 studio games. Mrs Silv will be online at 11am again today in the Year 6 Arena area! Her TT Rockstar name is Harmony Powers. Thanks to those children who have challenged her to a ‘battle’ too!
Reading – Read for at least 20 minutes every day.
Weekly spellings – Practise these everyday in your spelling booklets – your new weekly sheet will be uploaded each Monday. Download here: Week 5 spelling sheet  or Week 5 spelling sheet less tricky
Daily physical activity of some sort

Parents – please check out the ‘Parent Support’ section of our main website page, There is a page with some helpful educational resources for you to use as ‘extras’ to what we set daily on here, ONLY if you want to!

SATs Challenges – Mixed measure questions

English

If you haven’t finished your story, don’t panic! Come back to this powerpoint once you have.

For most of you, you’re now ready to edit before possibly publishing your work. Please follow the powerpoint below. It is so important you follow the instructions. This means reading your stories through four times: each time you read it through, there is a different editing focus.

You can then decide to publish it on a word document and email it to us, publish it by hand and send us a photo, or just send us a photo of your edited copy if you choose not to publish.

We are beyond excited to see what you have produced!

10 minute test & PE

Complete the next CGP 10 minute READING test carefully in your CGP books. You can then mark it using the answers at the back of the book. If you don’t have it, you’ll need to read for 20 minutes instead.

Once you have finished, spend at least half an hour doing your favourite physical activity. Maybe set yourself a challenge… what’s the most ‘Keepy Uppies’ with the football can you do? How long can you hula-hoop for? If you’re stuck for ideas, visit these websites to just take part in some fun dances…
