Year 5 – Wednesday 18th March

Hello Year 5s. We hope you are well and that you kept yourselves busy on Tuesday, as well as having some relaxation time as well.

We hope that you were able to complete the jobs set yesterday and that there were not any problems accessing the tasks. If you can, try and make some time to get some fresh air today, it’ll give your brain a good rest and a refresh.

Miss Thomas will be available to contact if you email year5@stmarksce.org.uk if you have: any questions, need a password to TT Rockstars, need some help, want to send a picture of your hard work or just want to say hello. Just remember to check with an adult that it’s okay to send the email first. She looks forward to hearing from you.

This update has your learning jobs for Wednesday. They are mostly the same subjects as yesterday – Maths, Book Club and English – but instead of Science, there will be a Grammar Hammer sheet to complete, a short French job and a link to a short video on YouTube as a PE exercise (instructions below).

Maths – Today you will be subtracting fractions with different denominators. It is very similar to adding with different denominators, you need to change them to the same denominator first. Instructions and step-by-step guides are on the sheet to help you.

Book Club – Today you have Chapter 16 to read, then you have to make a short prediction about what you think will happen to the characters in the next chapter.

English – You will be recapping the main events of the story so far, reviewing the rules for speech and then writing your own version of a section of the story in third person, including a conversation between the characters about a certain event.

Grammar Hammer – Complete the Grammar Hammer questions, thinking carefully about each answer.

French – Use the information on the sheet to write out the numbers in French as a recap of your previous learning.

PE – Follow the link to a YouTube video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhHY8mOQ5eo . It is a 15-minute workout video with Joe Wickes, which was designed to give your body some exercise when you are inside all day. (TOP TIP – Maybe complete this in the middle of Maths and English to give your brain a break)

Just a quick reminder, please try your best at the different jobs and think carefully about what we have done in class and how this can help you with your jobs. Remember to talk to your parents and see if they can help you, and if they are still unsure, send an email to Miss T to ask for help. (Email address year5@stmarksce.org.uk )

Remember to stay safe, wash your hands and continue to show all the learning behaviours towards your work as you usually do.

Mrs Poole, Miss Thomas, Mrs Stone and Miss Fowler.
