Hello everyone!
We hope you have had a fun morning at home. We have been busy collecting some ideas for activities we would like you to complete at home so that your learning continues while we are not together.
Each morning we will send you some new things to do at home. We would love it if you could share photos on Tapestry of these activities being completed. Let us know how you get on with them.

Maths Activities for Year R
This week we are meeting our next Numberblock – Numberblock 10!!
Before we go, Numberblock 9 would like to set you each a challenge – Can you make 9 in lots of different ways using a part – part whole?
(He has shown a couple of examples using Numicon in a part-part whole below below).
You can get a grown up to draw a part –part whole on a piece of paper for you OR could get three plates and arrange them like a part-part whole and share out 9 objects that you have at home.
Once you have created your two ‘parts’ don’t forget to move them to the ‘whole’ to find your total and to check you have made 9.
Numberblock 9 would LOVE to see what you have done – maybe you could send him some photos on Tapestry!

Reading and writing activities for Year R
Rhyming Word Families
Look at the words below. I have made a list of words which rhyme with tap. The words are sometimes real and sometimes nonsense. I have coloured in the real words green and the nonsense words red.

Now have a go at finding rhyming words to match the words below. Remember, you can write these words using your cursive school handwriting. Have your name and handwriting mat with you so you can show your parents how each letter is formed ????
Parents – some of these words include Set 2 sounds and your child may not have been introduced to these yet. We are sending you a pdf which introduces the Set 2 sounds and the special rhymes that we teach the children to help them memorise the sounds. Name writing
Can you use your special pen to carefully trace the letters on your name writing card? Remember each letter starts at the bottom except for the first letter which is a capital letter. Next, try practising writing your name on paper using school letters. Can you use different types of pens and pencils? Be careful with how you hold your pencil – “Peter Pointer” and “Tommy Thumb” should be pinching, and the pencil should rest on “Toby Tall”.

Year 5 – Tuesday 17th March

Good morning Year 5! The Year 5 team hope you and all your families are all keeping safe and well.
.Have you had your breakfast? How are you helping your parents?
As promised, we have been working hard creating some home learning for you so you can keep up with your studies. We will upload work daily in the morning for you to complete at home. We are sorry that it is coming to you a bit later today, but as you can imagine we needed some time to sort everything out for today. In future, we will try to get it uploaded earlier for you.
A few things to remember …
- We’re here to help! You can contact one of the Year 5 teacher to ask questions, or say hello, by using the email year5@stmarksce.org,uk . Make sure you get parental permission first before sending us any emails. We will check this account often and look forward to hearing from you.
- We’ve planned the home learning tasks to link as closely to the learning you have been doing in school as we can. Sometimes it will be very similar to what we do in school, other times it will be a little different.
- We have tried hard to think of activities that you can do with resources and equipment that you’d normally have at home. If there is something you need, please do not go out and buy anything, instead think of what else you use or use the email address above and one of the teachers may be able to offer some solutions!
- Your books are at school, so find any other paper you have at home or notebooks to complete the jobs. Just remember to keep your presentation neat, as if you were at school.
- Use the powerpoints and sheets uploaded here as a starting point. You don’t have to print them off to complete them. If you want to, then please do, but don’t feel like you have to.
- You can decide how you want to complete your work each day – you may want to get it all done in the morning, or you may want to take your time – do a bit, have a rest or get some fresh air (if you’re not self-isolating), then do a bit more later. The choice is yours – it’s up to you, but we really would like you to get it done. (TOP TIP – don’t leave it all until the evening!).
- Remember that TT Rockstars is always available to you and reading is a productive use of your time.
Today’s jobs will be: Early Morning type jobs, Maths, Book Club, English and Science. Please try your best at the different jobs and think carefully about what we have done in class and how this can help you with your jobs. If you need to, remember to talk to your parents, carers or other adults and see if they can help you . If they are unsure, send an email and we will be happy to help if we can.
Remember to stay safe and continue to show all the learning behaviours towards your work as you usually would.

Year 2 – today’s work 17th March
Good Morning Year 2. We hope you are all well. Each morning we will upload learning jobs for you to complete at home. If you can do all of them or some of them that is fantastic. Please try to keep all the work you do dated and in an organised place such as a folder or whatever you have available, and encourage your child to take care with the presentation of work.
Each day you can continue to read your school books, or books you have at home. If you are running out of reading material, a good website to look at for reading scheme books is www.oxfordowl.co.uk
Please also log in to Rock Stars and continue to practice your 2, 5 and 10 times tables, as well as practicing the weekly spellings, exploring the meaning of each word with your child.
Remember fresh air in your garden is important so try to keep a normal school day structure where possible with breaks.

Hello Fabulous Year 3 children,
Hope you’re all well and ready for today’s jobs. We will be posting some home learning activities on here daily and we would like you to complete as best as you can. These will normally arrive earlier than today’s but we hope you understand this has taken a little bit of time to organise and set up.
We would like to see these tasks so please remember to make it your very best work. handwriting and presentation is as important at home as it is in school! Some tasks you may be able to complete on the computer/ iPads, others will be on paper or books.

Spelling Shed – we have set up some spellings up for you to learn.
1. Please try at least 3 different sets of words. - Science Task – Computer or paper task – Quiz time
1. We would like you to create a quiz about our ‘What’s inside?’ project.
– Please use your knowledge organisers to help you.
– This could include drawings/ true or false questions/ multiple choice questions/ wordsearch
– If have misplaced your knowledge organiser you can find it here – knowledge organiser.
Challenge task: Can find some new facts by researching on the internet and challenge your teachers knowledge? - English/Bookclub – Computer or paper task – Design a front cover and write a blurb
1. We would like you to find a book from home and like we did with ‘The HodgeHeg’, we would like you to research and find out if there has been different front cover designs.
2. Design a new front cover for your book.
