Year 6 – Friday 20th March

Good Morning to our wonderful Year 6 children who are unable to attend school today!

We hope you are all healthy and happy at home. It has been very quiet without you and we are certainly missing you!

Have you enjoyed your home learning so far? It has been so wonderful to see some of the work you have completed over the last few days; in such a strange, uneasy situation, it has brought a huge smile to our faces so please, please keep it up!

From Monday, as you will all be learning from home, there will not be weekly ‘homework’! Pages from our CGP books which we would normally set will be completed as a dedicated maths and SPaG lesson on a Friday. This will begin next week.

You can find a worship here , too.

Keep being wonderful!

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on year6@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Ongoing Daily Activities

As well as the learning tasks we upload each day, there are a few ‘extras’ that you could have a go at, if you get time.

  • TTRockstars – Play 5 garage games + 5 studio games. We will be setting a weekly ‘meet’ in the arena for you to play against each other and us teachers! Hopefully, we can also set up weekly ‘battles’ where each class can battle against another class.
  • Reading –  Read for at least 20 minutes every day.
  • Weekly spellings – Practise these everyday in your spelling booklets.
  • Daily physical activity of some sort

Maths

We are continuing our learning of reading scales today – this time in the context of capacity. This will involve knowing key conversions between L and ML.

Please see attached powerpoint with some audio help again from Mrs Silvester (you may require Quicktime for this to play). Please also see below a choice of two levels of work – both of which have 2 sheets with Part 1, 2 and 3.

English

Today you will be starting to write your Indiana Jones adventure story! Please see the attached powerpoint to help you.

We have also attached a WAGOLL (what a good one looks like) of an introduction – this is ONLY for children who were not at school when we wrote our introductions and therefore haven’t got one. Use your plan to begin your story!

We are hoping by the end of next week, you will have completed your stories; we can’t wait to read them! Hopefully your parents might be able to send us photos of your final story, or you could even publish them on a word document and email that across.

Free time!

This afternoon in school, we are enjoying some free time. We hope you will enjoy your afternoon too! Maybe watch a film, or if it sunny head outside for some fresh air.ย

The End!
