An intresting week! Lots of illness going around. Thank you for your understanding of the 48hour rule.

Thank you to everyone who has given towards our capital fund. With our aging building and limited funds, it really makes a difference. Remember it’s not to late to give.

We had a Hampshire inspection on Monday. One of the comments from the inspector was, “Pupils learning behaviours are strong. There is a culture of respect and high regard for one another throughout the school. Children enjoy coming to school and are enthusiastic about their curriculum and can articulate how their learning builds over time.” Great!

Year 3&4 parents – don’t miss the email about Easter performance tickets.

We’re sorry to have to postpone our school council’s sports event. The weather was just against us. We’ll let you know of the new date.

Amaya in her Cheerleading uniform

Cheerleading Success

Amaya is on a team called Mini Magik with the WCA (Wolverines Cheer Academy). They performed in Guildford this weekend and got 3rd place. They also performed in Coventry at the end of January and came 2nd in their division. Their routine includes stunting, gymnastics and dance and is very energetic!

Car Parking

Particularly this week with the bad weather we have received several complaints from local residents regarding poor parking at pick up and drop off times. Could you please remain respectful to our residents and follow the usual parking rules even if this means parking further away from school.

Our Year 4 pupils, who enjoyed a 3 day residential at Ufton Court. They were fab!
Our 70+ DanceLive team who performed at the Guildhall, Portsmouth. So talented, so proud.
Year 1 pupils for their very successul trip to Milestones.

Thank you FOSM and parents – we took delivery of new table tennis bats and table, and new chromebooks this week. Your hard work and donations make a real difference.

School Council Sports Event – Friday 1st March

On Friday 1st March the school council are running a fun sports session for each year group to raise some money to help improve playtimes. We are asking each child to pay 50p to take part in a range of sporting events. These will include running a golden mile, tennis fun, netball goals, javelin, long jump, tri golf, football. The children can wear pe kit for the day.

Monday’s Worship was led by our fantastic Wellbeing Champions. They launched this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week. They shared some key messages, helping children understand how their ‘voices matter’.

Over 60 children performed at our guitar concert yesterday, led by Mr Macycock. They were great!

Do you know an electrician?

Do you know a friendly electrician who may help us out and save the school some money? We’ve got lighting ballasts to replace in our hall, requiring scaffolding to reach approx 5-6m high. We’d really appreciate any help. Email us here.

National Gallery - wow!

Last summer term, some children from years 3,4 and 6 worked together in an after-school club to complete a project for the National Gallery “Take One Picture” programme. The aim was to create work inspired by Henri Rouseau’s painting, “Surprised!” After a visit to the gallery to see the artwork first hand, the children planned and created a collaborative piece using a combination of 3D sculpture and painting on different surfaces. The whole process was enjoyed by the children and staff, and although the work will not be exhibited at the gallery, it does not diminish the value of this experience for all involved.

“My favourite part was when we all saw the final product and when we all had huge smiles on our faces. We all felt so proud of ourselves. When we were finishing up I felt like I was in the jungle with my friends and I could hear all the animals like birds, parrots, snakes and so much more, it was amazing. I’m so grateful I got to be part of this project, it was a great experience.” Isabelle

School Car Park Reminder

If you have permission to use the school car park or are using it to collect children during the school day and can not find a marked bay to park in, could you please make sure that you park on the LEFT side of the car park. This ensures that there is always space for emergency services to use the car park in the event of an emergency.

- White t-shirt. Please also wear the school jumper to school on PE days. Football shirts are not acceptable as PE kit.
- Trainers for all children.

A note from Mr Applegate

We’ve been thinking about volunteering this week in worship, and shared with the children about governors, school helpers and also those who help with Cubs, Brownies and so on. They were inspired!

Thanks to everyone for their support of the Disco tonight, in whatever capacity. A gentle reminder about parking and respecting local residents. And FOSM – you are amazing :)

Children’s Mental Health week is Monday 5th Feb. Here’s a great leaflet to get you thinking.

A reminder about Safer Internet Day on Tues 6th Feb; this will be non-uniform and children are encouraged to wear something orange if possible – the colour of Safer Internet Day.

We have new locks on the cages – just put the code in and then pull down to release.
For those doing an evening booking, please remove the chicken food and put it in the shed. No need to feed. If you are doing a morning slot, return the chicken food to the shed and ensure it’s filled up.

Children’s Mental Health Week

From 5^th – 11^th February it is Children’s Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is ‘My Voice Matters’. Our Wellbeing Champions will launch the week during our Monday Worships. Here is a leaflet from the Charity Place2Be with some top tops for families.

School Car Park

If you have permission to use the school car park or are using it to collect children during the school day and can not find a marked bay to park in, could you please make sure that you park on the LEFT side of the car park. This ensures that there is always space for emergency services to use the car park in the event of an emergency.

Walking 100km for St Mark's

Two parents of St Mark’s are walking 100km continuously across the Jurassic Coast, fundraising for the school.

Mike is a parent at the school, Aidan is Chair of Governors and a parent at the school. They are both a little addicted to walking!
