Year 2 – Friday 20th March

Good Morning Year 2,

How are you today? It was a bit drizzly yesterday so you may not have got outside for fresh air! Maybe today if the weather is better you could try again to do some of the exercises in your garden.

Thank you to everyone who sent in work to show. We are building our art gallery which we will keep adding to so you can still send us work.

Keep trying hard to complete your tasks if you can and ask us any questions. Keep smiling you are doing a great job and we are proud of you all.

You can find a worship here  from Mr Applegate.

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on year2@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry. complete what you can with your child. The activities are enough for about an hours work throughout the day.

Ongoing Daily Activities

  • 20 minutes of reading either a school book or a home book.
  • Practicing of your 2, 5, 10 times tables, using TTRockstars, or a different method.
  • Practice your weekly spellings and the Year 2 common exception words.

English – Grammar Hammer

Today’s English task is a Grammer Hammer task just like we would do in school. If you can print it out it would be easier as you can complete the task straight onto the paper. However if you can’t print it, please write it out on a piece of paper, making sure you number the questions and start a new line for each question. We have also attached the answer sheet so that you can mark your own work. All the answers are in red and underlined on this sheet as we were unable to circle them on the computer. Use a polishing pen to do this, but it can be whatever colour pen you have available at home.

To use after you have completed: Grammar Hammer 20.3.20 answers

Maths

Today we will be continuing our learning of time, focusing particularly on telling the time to 5-minute intervals. Attached is a flipchart which will help you to explore this concept before having a go at the challenge sheet that includes a range of activities that you can talk through together.

You may wish to warm up your brains by using the 100s square on the first page of the flipchart to practice counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s, starting from different numbers. Please email us at year2@stmarksce.org.uk if you have any questions about this task.
