Year 2 Learning – 19.03.20

Good morning Year 2!

Have you had your breakfast and feeling ready for the day ahead? Remember fresh air is important and it is our normal PE day, so try to build in some time outside in your garden or if you are well, a walk to the park.

If you have any questions, want to share your work, have forgotten your password or need help you can email us here-  year2@stmarksce.org.uk. We will be looking at this account regularly during the school day and look forward to hearing from you.

Remember to keep washing your hands at home and demonstrating all of our learning behaviours..

Have fun with your learning,

Mrs Rosso, Miss Burgess, Miss Tamblyn, Mrs Tickle

Daily Tasks:

Continue to practice your weekly spellings, read for 20 minutes a day and add to your learning log as a record. You can practice your 2,5 and 10 times tables and use Rock Stars.

You can also practice the common exception words for year 1 and 2, as well as practicing your handwriting. You may find these resources helpful in doing this:

English: Today we are going to be continuing our thinking about Queen Victoria. You are going to be coming up with your very own invention, before writing a letter to Queen Victoria to persuade her that your invention is the best invention yet. Your invention could be something that doesn’t currently exist, or it could be an invention that hadn’t been thought of in the time of Queen Victoria, such as the Television. Perhaps you could draw your invention, and think carefully about why it is so important, making a plan of the key points you will include in your writing. Please have a look through the PowerPoint as it will explain the main features of Persuasive Writing. The second PowerPoint is the flipchart (saved as a PowerPoint) to show how to complete the task. There is also a modelled write so you can see an example. We have attached a writing frame for you to use if you wish, or you could record your

Remember to use your best presentation showing Pride in your work, using the date and title as you would at school. Enjoy!

Maths- Today you will be continuing with your work on time, thinking specifically about finding quarter to and quarter past the hour, and telling the time to 15 minutes. Please use the sheet attached to support this learning, by either printing the resource, or by recording your answers on a seperate piece of paper.

Topic learning-

History- We are thinking about what life was like when Victoria was Queen. Looking closely at the picture, what do you notice? Are there parts of the streets that are similar, or different to our streets? The task is to write down the different things you notice using interesting words. You don’t have to write in complete sentences for this task today, but remember to use your best letter formation so that is can be read easily.

Art- Choose an image of one of the Victorian artefacts of Queen Victoria herself and create a pencil drawing of your choice. You could get your parent or guardian to take a photo of your work to email us. We could then create an art gallery for you to view other peoples work.

PE- Set yourself a challenge to see if you can do the following: Ten star jumps, Ten bunny hops, Ten side to side steps and back, Ten tuck jumps and Ten straight jumps as your warm up.

Country dancing- We are working on traditional country dances. Here is a link to the program we use at school called BBC sounds if you would like to have a go at some of the moves at home: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds.
