Year 6 – Tuesday 24th March

Good Morning Year 6!

We hope you slept well and have had a good breakfast ready for today’s learning?

Mrs Silvester was amazed with the number of children she had emailing her yesterday. Thank you for keeping her busy by asking her questions and sending her photos of your work. Well done to those children who spotted the error on the maths answers – we only did that to check you were really concentrating ;)

It was also great to battle against lots of you on TT Rockstars – same time again today?!

Don’t forget – start your day with ‘P.E WITH JOE’ (Joe Wicks, The Body Coach). Live at 9am every day this week on his youtube channel -https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1/featured

Have a wonderful day!

Mrs Silv, Mrs Chapman and Miss Pettitt

Helpful Reminders

Don’t forget you can email us on year6@stmarksce.org.uk. We would love to hear from you if you have a question, need a password, need some help, want to show us your work or even just say hello! Please get your grown up’s permission before you email us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Presentation – Please remember to do your very best work. Handwriting and presentation are as important at home as they are in school. You can complete your work in a book or if you need lined or squared paper you can get it here.

Note for parents: Hopefully your children will enjoy working through these activities and can do independently. We completely understand it may be difficult to complete all these tasks due to other family commitments or you are working from home, so please do not worry; complete what you can with your child.

Ongoing Daily Activities

As well as the learning tasks we upload each day, there are a few ‘extras’ that you could have a go at, if you get time.

TTRockstars – Play 5 garage games + 5 studio games. Meet in the ‘Arena’ (make sure you select ‘Maths class 6’ at the top) at 11am. Mrs Silv’s TT Rockstar name is Harmony Powers.
Reading – Read for at least 20 minutes every day.
Weekly spellings – Practise these everyday on the sheet or in your ‘Home Book’. Download here: Week 5 spelling sheet  or Week 5 spelling sheet less tricky
Daily physical activity of some sort

Maths

Today we are continuing to think about conversions of capacity using stem sentences and word problems.

Documents to download:

Success in Seven week 5 – I forgot to add this to yesterday’s post for those wanting to print off the whole week.

Maths Tuesday 24th March presentation new– no talking/video from Mrs Silv today – today’s learning shouldn’t require it!

Main task

Main task answers

English

I can use short sentences and varied sentence starters in the next part of my adventure story

We’re continuing with our Maya adventure stories today – this time with a focus on varied sentence openers! Please see the attached powerpoint to help you.

Spellings/Handwriting

I can use my spelling words within interesting sentences

This week, your spelling words either use the ‘ch’ or ‘ure’ sound. You should have already seen these from yesterday’s post.

In your neatest handwriting, please write each word in an interesting sentence. Maybe try to start each one with a different sentence starter like in English. Remember ‘ISPACED’!

Once you have finished all ten, you can choose a few of them to create spelling pyramids or spirals like last week. We’d love to see this work so we can keep an eye on your presentation. Work hard!
